Miss World Kenya Ivy Muhenje Finishes Top Five in Africa at Vietnam Festival

Ivy Trizah Muhenje was scrolling through the pageant's official app at 2 AM Vietnam time when she saw her name appear in the Top 5 for the Africa region in the Multimedia Challenge — the component of Miss World 2026 that asks contestants to demonstrate media and communication skills through video content, social media engagement and on-camera interviews.

"I screamed. I think I woke up the entire floor of the hotel," the 22-year-old lawyer from Nairobi told Infinity254 Media from Ho Chi Minh City. "This is for Kenya. All the people who voted, who shared, who believed in me — this is for them."

The Multimedia Challenge result places her in contention for the full competition's final stages, where judges assess the social impact potential of contestants alongside traditional presentation categories. Miss World, which has deliberately evolved away from the purely physical assessment model of its early decades, now weights community projects and intellectual substance heavily in its scoring.

Muhenje's Beauty with a Purpose project — a mentorship programme she founded at her former Nairobi secondary school that has reached over 500 girls in three counties — was what judges described in their feedback as "authentic, sustainable and scaled." She has spent three years building it alongside her law degree and bar examinations.

Kenya has not had a strong Miss World record in recent years, with the country's most celebrated international pageant moment remaining Agatha Ruiz de la Prada's Miss Universe moment several years earlier. A strong final performance in Vietnam would represent a genuine milestone and could reignite investment in Kenya's pageant sector, which lacks the sponsorship infrastructure of Nigeria, South Africa and Tanzania.
